The 45th FSS

The Food and Nutrition Research Institute Seminar Series (FSS) is an annual event of the Department of Science and Technology - Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI). Its primary objective is to disseminate results of the completed R&D and S&T activities in a forum where nutritionists, public health   professionals and frontline workers,  academicians, students, industry partners and other stakeholders are able to (i) learn about food and nutrition R&D updates and S&T innovations; (ii) facilitate exchange of scientific ideas among health, food and nutrition researchers and experts; and (iii) ensure capacity building among researchers and research enthusiasts.

This year’s FSS theme “FIT for LIFE: Food and Nutrition Innovation and Technology for Improved Quality of LIFE” is an affirmation of the Institute’s commitment to provide workable solutions to the country’s health and nutritional problems. As a lead agency in food and nutrition researches in the country, we bring to you research updates on our  completed researches on various areas of food and nutrition. This year’s FSS includes plenary sessions and technical sessions on  nutrition survey, gene-nutrition correlations, nutrition tools and standards, ICT-based solutions, food safety and food quality innovations, and food generation and technology transfer. It is a forum for intellectual dialogues and meaningful collaborations among stakeholders in the government, academe, private sector and international organizations, to uncover and craft solutions, programs and policies to improve the Filipinos’ quality of life.

Part of the event is also the conduct of the Undergraduate Student Research Competition and the Scientific Poster Competition. The Fellowship Night provides a chance to foster camaraderie and renew ties with   colleagues and friends in the field of nutrition, food science and other allied professions. In addition, a Stakeholders/Thanksgiving Night will also be conducted to provide the opportunity to celebrate and give tribute to outstanding individuals for productive efforts and collaborations and to give recognition to our partners in the successful implementation of FNRI R&D and S&T programs.

As the DOST-FNRI’s contribution to the Philippine Development Plan with focus on AmBisyon Natin 2040, a nation where families live together, thriving in vibrant, culturally diverse, and resilient communities, the Institute continues to develop better solutions to persistent problems and creative means to make life  dignified, comfortable and more convenient for every Juan and Juana through science and innovation
